Christopher P. Chafizadeh Chris Chafizadeh is a managing director and the Head of Public Finance New Business at National. He oversees development of new business for all Public Finance sectors including: General Obligation, Appropriation-Backed, Sales and Excise Tax, Special Assessment, Tax Allocation, Hotel Tax, Pension Obligations, Special Districts, Healthcare, Higher Education, Utilities, Not-for-Profit, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Leases.
Mr. Chafizadeh is responsible for all activities including pricing, sales, underwriting and marketing nationally for all Public Finance sectors. In addition, he is responsible for modeling and pricing for all public finance bond types and oversees National’s Secondary Market platform. Mr. Chafizadeh is head of banking and financial adviser relationships for National.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Chafizadeh was head of the Tax-Backed sector of National. Previously, Mr. Chafizadeh was a managing director at MBIA Insurance Corporation and held various senior positions within the Public Finance Division including: Head of MBIA’s National Tax Backed Group, Head of MBIA’s Housing/Military Housing practice, Head of MBIA’s Higher Education and Not-For-Profit practices and Head of MBIA’s Global Secondary Market platform.

Mr. Chafizadeh joined MBIA in 1993 covering the Healthcare and Municipal Housing sectors. During his tenure (1993-2001) in this capacity, Mr. Chafizadeh was instrumental in building the MBIA Healthcare and Municipal Housing practices. In 2001, Mr. Chafizadeh was named Global Head of Secondary Markets and was responsible for continuing to build MBIA’s Secondary Market franchise domestically and in the international capital markets. Mr. Chafizadeh also was in MBIA’s Eastern Region focusing on Tax Backed, Transportation, Infrastructure and Project Finance/Privatization.

Mr. Chafizadeh earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration/Finance from Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont and a Master of Business Administration in Corporate/Investment Finance from Pace University's Lubin Graduate School of Business in New York.

Mr. Chafizadeh is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is a Member of the Municipal Analyst's Group of New York (MAGNY), the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA), the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), the American Finance Association, the Municipal Bond Club of NY, NACUBO, the Municipal Forum of New York, the Fixed Income Analysts Society, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the Education Finance Council. Mr. Chafizadeh resides in Tarrytown, NY with his wife and three children.
